Larry Hogan's Cancer: A Challenge he will win

Larry Hogan’s cancer: a challenge he will win

A media feeding frenzy occurred, on Monday June 22, as Governor Larry Hogan of Maryland revealed he had advance cancer. In an emotional address from Annapolis, with his family beside him, he openly discussed the extent of his illness. Hogan noted that lymphoma, discovered in its late stages, is affecting many regions of his body. Presently symptomatic he will undergo treatment immediately at a John Hopkin’s oncological center. Specific therapies have not been announced though chemotherapy has been very successful in lymphomas such as the type Hogan has contracted. Seventy percent of individuals are living 5 years after instituting therapy, even in those whose disease was discovered in its advanced stages. http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/maryland-gov-hogan-says-he-has-been-diagnosed-with-cancer/ar-AAbY2Wh?ocid=ansnewsreu11

Hogan has been diagnosed with a non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma which affects the lymphatic system in the body. Governor Hogan hesitated when revealing the stage of his lymphoma noting it was a late stage 3 or an early stage 4. With the information noted so far it appears to be a stage 4. http://www.capitalgazette.com/news/government/cgnews-gov-hogan-to-announce-cancer-diagnosis-20150622-story.html Numerous physicians have been interviewed concerning the Governor’s condition. Most of these physicians are extremely optimistic the cancer can be rendered neutral or cured. The author lost a brother to lymphoma in the 1960s. Since then the evolution of treatment modalities has been nothing less than fantastic. Chemotherapy regimens can literally sweep the cancer out of a patient. For the Governor 18 weeks of chemo are ahead.

Maryland hired a tough Governor who beat back the challenges of several worthy opponents. Hogan’s vim and vigor brought him to the State House. The lymphoma may weaken him physically yet he has a strong spirit which will carry him through this stage of his life. With a great team of doctors and an extremely supportive family Hogan will be around for many years to come. I know many in the State of Maryland are praying for his rapid recovery, as is the author of this article. Get well quick Governor you have much work ahead to make Maryland right again.

Read the Tea Leaves: Anthony Brown will be Maryland's next Governor

Read the tea leaves: Anthony Brown will be Maryland’s next Governor

Anthony Brown is the candidate to beat in both the Democrat primary and the general election. Presently he is the Lieutenant Governor of Maryland. Those running against him in his own party have failed to tarnish his reputation, though they have tried. Of the five other candidates opposing him in the primary, Douglas Gansler and Heather Mizeur have been the two most vocal against him. This journalist’s views on Gansler are clearly noted in an article written earlier this month and attached as a link below. Gansler’s own actions and verbalizations have denied him the ability to out distance his major competitor in this race. Helen MIzeur has yet to make a dent in Brown’s armor. She has many concrete proposals which the future governor should consider. Brown is being held in contempt by both sides of the aisle for mismanaging the implementation of the health exchanges. This absurdity has played itself out without affecting Brown’s ability to garner major support throughout Maryland. Union after union have lined up to back the Lieutenant Governor in his quest for higher office. Maryland’s most prominent politicians have also cast their support his way. Anthony Brown’s  strong intellectual reservoir and expansive leadership abilities are a hard combination for his opponents to surpass. With thirty years in the military reserves and a tour of duty in Iraq his dedication to this country’s safety and security is without question. Gansler’s harsh rhetoric on the campaign trail, directed at Brown, was nothing more than a series of personal attacks. As the present Attorney General of Maryland his indignant behavior did not go unnoticed. His weak support amongst the Maryland electorate may be reflective of his missteps during the campaign. One must see the reality of structured politics in Maryland.  As a deeply blue state Republicans have a very tortuous road to follow when attempting to attain higher office. The array of conservative candidates pursuing the governorship is quite impressive. Yet none of them have displayed an ability to garner support on the level Anthony Brown has accrued. With little reservation I can predict he will be Maryland’s next governor. http://www.examiner.com/article/four-thousand-reasons-not-to-vote-for-douglas-gansler

O'Malley's assault on Maryland: is recall in the air

O’Malley’s assault on Maryland: is recall in the air

Starving to move up the food chain, Governor Martin O’Malley has wrought worse havoc on the State of Maryland than Obama has on nation. O’Malley’s legislative initiatives have infuriated many members of the business community, some of whom have voiced recalling the Governor for ineptitude in office. O’Malley’s push for wind farms off the coast of Ocean City, displays a profound level of incompetence on his part (see article, Maryland’s Solyndra: offshore wind farms). In his latest legislative intent, which he blames on the EPA, a rain tax is to be levied on properties in selective counties. Both business and private residences are involved in his latest folly. The sheer magnitude of the levies could amount to billions in new revenues to the state, while forcing the owners of these properties to move or into bankruptcy. In discussions with dozens of business owners, a common sentiment emerged: O’Malley’s initiatives are hurting the business community to an extent unheard of, even in this very blue state. Furthering his left-wing agenda, by making gun possession more difficult and easing up on punishment for victimizers, strengthens the basis for a recall vote. Many residents may have forgotten that our overreaching Governor went to Wisconsin in 2012 to help recall Governor Scott Walker. His efforts were for naught. Governor Walker won and O’Malley’s crew lost miserably. During O’Malley’s tenure the business community has had an net egress from the state. Maryland is consistently voted as having one of the worst business environments in the country. Cash flow for entitlements has diminished from the feds, no problem for O’Malley. His devious new set of levies will be diverted, as usual, from the intended purpose, to his entitlement base. Perhaps you have not been one of Maryland’s dozens of entitlement offices lately.  Those receiving state aid are living very well off the backs of those who are employed, as reflected in the high end cars parked nearby. These people are O’Malley’s base. He hopes they will propel him into a higher office, unless the gravy train stops. How many more taxes, levies, fees, assessments edicts etc. will state residents allow thrust on them before the recall petitions start rolling out to throw the Governor from office. From this perch, the tipping point has past.
