SUICIDE POLITICS: SUPPORTING THE UNSUPPORTABLE

Suicide Politics: Supporting the Unsupportable

Juggling numbers to validate a point in a discussion is nothing new to those on the left. Obamacare was passed into existence with lies and persists by the same methodology. Claiming millions would be hurt when Obamacare’s claws are finally removed from the health system is nonsense. Many who moved over to Obamacare were members of the Medicaid set originally and as a point of reference this charitable benefit still exists. Whether 15 or 20 million will lose health care coverage via Obamacare’s demise is irrelevant. This group has government programs to help them. Left out of the equation are 200 million people whose private health insurance costs moved into the stratosphere because a very bad piece of legislation was signed into law in March of 2010. Political dynamos want to substitute another piece of trash legislation in its place. Gladly it failed on the first go around.

Slowly filtered out of the dark corridors of Congress were bits and pieces of another potential health care disaster. Intraparty politics amongst the Republicans doomed health care reform before President Trump took office. Sub legislative caucuses each wanted their own version of reform to pass. With no clear consensus political leaders failed to convince sufficient numbers to side with the pending disaster placed before them. Therefore a vote, for now, has been tabled until party unity is achieved and hence a viable health initiative can be formulated.

Omitted from the debate is the human element. Under the canopy of health care reform politicians have forgotten the medical personnel and patient population affected by their twisted legislative proposals.  The whole purpose of this legal exercise is to bring health costs down not elevate personal egos. Paul Ryan, the Speaker of the House, has shown he is an ineffective leader yet he will not vacate his position to someone with foresight and marketing skills. Moving legislation forwards requires certain aptitudes not displayed by Ryan. Since Gingrich is not available perhaps someone of equal talents will step forward.

President Trump was a CEO of a major corporation. His ability to get the job done was not a problem because one mind established policies and the rest followed suit. In Washington Trump must contend with 538 people who have a stake in each piece of legislation and its final outcome. Welcome to Washington D.C. where gridlock will affect the best of intentions, as President Trump has displayed. No one could have predicted the President’s own political party would be the obstructionists, yet they are. Many of these depleted minds must confront their electorate base back home and they are mad. Lindsey Graham’s recent Town Hall discussion exemplifies the hostilities awaiting many others when they attempt to explain the failure to repeal Obamacare.

A string of career suicides will follow for neglecting to keep campaign promises. My perspective is Trump will go directly to the American public and point out who blocked health care reform on his side of the aisle. The delay in repeal and replace Obamacare will be indelibly marked on the electorate’s mind. Yet I believe President Trump will not be hurt by this failure because he will make sure people know he gave it his best.

What is a physician

What is a Physician

Physicians are a group of people who dedicate themselves to care for the injured, diseased and or those in the transitions of life. Revered by most cultures these healers partake in prolonged, extensive and grueling training to be called the title they become. Major shifts in technology, pharmaceutical sciences and government intervention have metamorphosed the role expected of medical doctors. In recent times physicians moved from managing a patient’s problem to being managed themselves. Fear of sanction and loss of income from a variety of sources has turned this profession into a mere utility controlled by a massive bureaucracy. As a result the glamour and prestige of the practitioner has evaporated leaving vestiges of a career many sought yet few could obtain. Preparation takes a minimum of 11 years before one can enter the realm of practice. In some specialties 14 years or more are required before the student is able to rise above that title. When let loose on society the newly minted physician must face an array of challenges not considered on the very first day of medical school. Medical boards, with twisted agendas, to keep the newly stamped licensee in line will bring much sorry to those who transgress these politically motivated administrative authorities. Lawyers will target them indiscriminately to move up the food chain leaving an indelible mark during the process. Long hours, extreme patient demands, onerous regulatory structure and a system at war with the practitioner await those who dare step into the medical arena. In 2014 it is projected that 300 physicians will commit suicide. Depression, driven by factors enumerated in this text, has brought these physicians to the brink. Thousands of physicians have bailed on the profession to safer harbors, more will follow as Obamacare is fully implemented. With the incipience of the Patient Protection and Affordability Care Act, in March of 2010, physicians and other health care workers became indentured servants to a massive body of regulations that re-fabricated the medical industry. To answer ‘what is a physician’ one must review the transitions now occurring throughout the system. This person is a shadow of his colleagues from decades past who lost individuality to groupthink and is a puppet of his taskmasters.

Obamacare: A Prescription for Job Loss

Obamacare: A Prescription for Job Loss

By Mark Davis, MD

Democracy took a wrong turn when the Patient Protection and Affordability Care Act (PPACA), commonly known as Obamacare, came online in March of 2010.  Few had read this voluminous document prior to its passage, even fewer understood the pain it would inflict soon after.  By virtue of this law’s intricate algorithms failure could be its only final outcome. As time moved on from its passage into law a new array of taxes and levies were brought to bear on businesses, insurance companies and those affected by the changes in both. Companies with fifty or more employees were mandated to provide health insurance to their employees. Through a convoluted formula certain levels of health coverage were required to be met or the wrath of the IRS would soon be felt. More revealing businesses would be able to circumvent this mandate if hours of their workers were reduced below thirty per week. With the swipe of a pen the private sector had their balance sheets usurped by government entities under the guise of a health care umbrella.

In preparation for the oncoming fiscal tidal wave a multiplicity of businesses began paring back there non-salaried workers hours to less than 30. This action would place these employees under the threshold requirement to provide health coverage. Regal Cinemas sent a memo to its staff, early in 2013, with a blatant message noting their change in hours were directly due to the health insurance provisions of Obamacare. Many managers resigned others simply worked with the schedule provided by Regal Corporate.  From Pizza chains to wholesale outlets innumerable employees were experiencing the consequences from a legislation that never should have been enacted into law. Contrary to the positive face government officials place on PPACA, its insidious affects are making their way throughout the business community. Employees in minimum wage jobs will be especially hard hit. How many people will ultimately lose their jobs has been sketched out by another bureaucracy.

Congressional Budget Office (CBO) was established as a federal agency within the jurisdiction of the legislative branch of government. Its noble mission statement required this administrative entity to be objective, nonpartisan and timely with its economic forecasts. Recent history displays these goals have come into question concerning Obamacare. Their projections indicate over 2 million full time  job equivalents will be lost in the next few years as a direct result of the progressives overreach into health care. Transparency is not this agency’s strong point. Calculation of these job losses may not take into consideration the gamut of new taxes forced on the business world. Welch Allyn, a company that manufactures medical diagnostic equipment, announced in the latter part of 2012 it would lay-off 10% of its workforce over a three year period, in response to the pending medical device tax it would confront in the near future. Dana Holding Corporation, Stryker, Boston Scientific, Metronics and many others cite this same tax for the expansive layoffs they plan. Could the CBO be underestimating the workforce reductions as they underestimated the costs of PPACA?  Omens suggest the CBO’s predictions are baseless and more bad news is coming.

Democrat leaders in both houses of Congress continue to spin Obamacare as America’s destiny, the numbers reveal the antithesis.  Job creation has been very sluggish over the last several years as the tentacles of this leviathan intersperse throughout the business community. Unable to plan for the future, many companies are sitting on the sidelines waiting for the next twist or turn in a law which has obstructed their ability to expand. Unemployment statistics do not reflect the tens of millions who have curtailed searching for work.  Reports from the franchise industry provide an indication of the problems created by this legislation. With the imposition of penalties on businesses not offering health insurance and or appropriate coverage, as defined by Obamacare, many medium to large concerns are not hiring or worse they are moving ahead with layoffs. The hospitality, restaurant and leisure industries, especially those who employ more than fifty people, see bleak futures ahead. They require many hands to be successful, yet work on a very fine profit margin. A future full of red ink is the collective realization of many who have read the proverbial writing on the wall which our legislators refuse acknowledge.

Unions, once major supporters of President Obama’s health fiasco, now feel exploited. Health insurance premiums for their members have seen exponential increases. Promised subsidies have not materialized. Worse coverage has changed to the detriment of millions under union contracts. Low salaried workers could be forced off their plans onto insurance exchanges providing less coverage than they have now or worse lose their jobs. Union bosses have made their feelings clearly known to Obama who so far has been mute to their complaints. Why? Because he no longer needs their support, therefore he has thrown them under the literal bus as he has done to the rest of the country.

Obamacare is a prescription for job loss, no doubt. Constructed around a core of ideas to control all segments of the economy, health care delivery was the least concern of its architects. Enmeshed within its draconian structure are the ingredients to tilt bottom lines towards red ink, potentially placing at risk millions of jobs. Oblivious to these facts the President believes his legacy legislation is the best thing since the invention of the wheel without recognizing the true cost to the nation, its soul.

America's health system: will it survive under Obamacare

America’s health system: will it survive under Obamacare

Mark Davis, M.D.

America’s system of health care delivery is one of the best in the World. Tens of millions seek medical services yearly, most of whom are successfully treated for their ills. Yet a small percentage of this group fails to achieve a similar success story. Consequently, a harsh reality encumbers a segment of society in their search for the healing process. This failure is the substance of an indictment brought to bear by an overreaching government that seeks equity in a system that in the end is an unrealistic goal. Present day medical services offer an array of choices from basic care to sophisticated diagnostics and therapeutics. Costs associated with these variant levels of care move along a similar spectrum with the latter end out of reach except for the wealthiest amongst us. Present population demographics indicate the nation’s inhabitants number more than 317 million. In order to manage the medical services for this vast number of people 900 thousand physicians are licensed to perform the task. Of this group approximately 80% perform direct patient services. The rest are embedded in administrative roles through government entities or private functions. Nearly three million nurses, nurse practitioners and physicians assistants supplement the services of their physician colleagues. Day to day medical miracles are performed in 5,800 registered hospitals, thousands of clinics, innumerable physicians’ offices and a variety of other health outlets that complete the circle of this expansive system. During the early days of the 111th Congress the Democrat majority, in both houses, quietly began the foundations of a piece of legislation we now know as Obamacare. As it was nearing completion in 2010 a heightened level of negative rhetoric was heard against the prevailing system. Insurance companies, the pharmaceutical and health industries found themselves harshly demonized by a government which was planning to literally nationalize the medical system. On March 23rd 2010 a several thousand page legislative effort, written end to end by lawyers and passed by both houses of Congress on the slimmest of margins, was signed into law. With the swipe of a pen one sixth of the U.S. economy and  control of America’s health system was usurped by  federal bureaucrats who forgot one small point, no one knew its contents.

Designated as a cure-all for the ills of a system that had a minor cold the Patient Protection and Affordability Care Act (PPACA) may be a historic first. Nearly every voting member in the House of Representatives and its Senatorial counterpart were ill-knowledgeable of the Trojan horse they had passed into law. Several thousand pages of legislative confusion was about to be inflicted on a nation whose greatest majority were already covered by health plans. Promises of eternal access to high quality medical care with cost affordability in mind were splashed throughout receptive media channels in an effort to convince Americans a new day has dawned in American health care. Pre-existing condition coverage was an absolute within the structure of the legislation. All this and more without increasing the federal budget was the fantasy repeated over and over again by Obama’s friends in the media. Then a few people began to look under the hood of this new health vehicle and found something else. Written in legalese its authors deliberately confounded the wording making it difficult if not impossible to decipher. Those who were able to break the code found there were more sanctions and penalties than health initiatives in this disturbing law. Few initiated in health care management had contributed to this expansive edict which was designed to eventually place every aspect of medical services under the watchful eye of Uncle Sam. Left out of the conversation was the fact that traditional insurance was less expensive, offered more services and allowed better access to the health system. Those who led the charge to pass PPACA were unavailable for comment during the early days of the law’s incipience. They were vacationing in Antarctica. Nevertheless reality has a way of surfacing and the more people knew about Obamacare the less affinity they had for it.

Media friendly to the Obama Administration brought in their usual list of hacks to bless this new burden on our society. Politicians, economists, Harvard professorial consultants and other faces you have seen many times were among them. This crowd read from the same talking points noting how the left’s pinnacle achievement would save America from its unfair and decaying medical system. Referencing a few key elements their diatribes were almost believable. Yet scratching the surface of Obamacare’s cheer leadership a pervasive credibility gap opened which still defines the hazards of this legislation. Promising to bring tens of millions into the fold, who had a paucity of health services in the past, these spokesmen for the Administration could not quite explain the machinery to bring this about. Analyzing the Romneycare experiment in Massachusetts, a program that influenced PPACA legislation, a cold chill comes over the reader as he sees the parallels between the two laws. Increased demand for services in the Bay State taxed the medical infrastructure to a point causing many physicians to close their practices to new patients. Prices of services rose through the natural progression of cost inflation, yet government officials blocked many requests for elevation of fees. Massachusetts government officials artificially kept reimbursements low by denying legitimate requests for increases. Inundated with lawsuits over their micro-version of Obamacare, Massachusetts elevated many lawyers to the level of administrative judgeships then quickly dispensed with these cases.  The fix was in, similar to the courts for Obamacare. Autocratic methodologies, convoluted judicial opinions and heavy financial penalties are the fulcrums used to squash any resistance to a health plan few desired and less were willing to pay for. Romney jumped ship before his legacy plan was implemented. Do you blame him?

Students of Romneycare see the obvious parallels between the poorly designed national plan and the Bay State’s experiment. In both cases a heavy reliance on the legal system has been introduced to enforce these two tragedies on less than receptive audiences. For lawyers and judges Obamacare is a legal fantasyland given to them as payback for supporting the President. Tentacles of this leviathan reach into every aspect of our society. When compliance is questionable the briefcase crowd along with their black robed friends will be called in to save the day. Tort reform was deliberately left out of this beast. Instead battalions of attorneys were given a license to lead the charge against those who would rather make their own decisions on health care. Lawsuits will have a new flavor. In addition to the thousands of malpractice suits filed yearly Obamacare lawsuits, in equal numbers, will join them. Rules to implement this behemoth are still being formulated by the Department of Health and Human Services. When fully released, thousands of pages of regulatory structure will be added on top of Obama’s grand Ponzi scheme to cure America. Treatment plans, diagnostics, choices of drugs, lengths of hospital stays and more will be controlled by central “authorities.” Stepping away from government protocols will not be an option for physicians and individuals. Physicians become indentured servants paid and controlled by a blind bureaucracy whose only goal is to keep the beast alive at any cost. Doctors out of compliance with the monotone tenets of Obamacare will find themselves looking for other work or even jailed. Lawyers will be bathed in money because they have been given the “right” to sue on behalf of the government at the national and state levels. Designers of this egregious legislation placed a smile on their public faces as they discussed Obamacare. In the dark halls of Congress most knew this legislation would bring on dissent once everyone was made aware of it contents.

Checked your tax and insurance bills lately, you may be surprised. Over a dozen taxes and levies were brought to bear to support this new health scheme. Contrary to the President’s multiple statements that taxes will not increase for those earning 250,000 dollars or less, the antithesis is true. Many of the new charges affect people across the economic spectrum. Surcharges on investment income, increases in the Medicare payroll tax, mandated taxes on employees and employers, a tax on health insurers, excise taxes on so-called Cadillac insurance plans, taxes on medical device manufacturers, elevated threshold to deduct medical expenses on income taxes and many more are a direct result of government’s interference in the health system. Originally conceived as a program which would save hundreds of billions for its participants, economists’ worst nightmare has come true. Costs will not be contained in the manner as Congressional Budget Office officials originally stated. Trillion dollar deficits are perceived in the next few years. Even more detrimental those who decide to retain traditional insurance will find premiums exponentially higher.  Fiscally unsound algorithms are driving costs skyward resulting in millions of jobs vanishing from view and a health system placed in chaos.

Obamacare is an indictment of the traditional medical system. Irrational as it sounds, the legal profession along with their legislative counterparts brought into law a legislation that condemns prior efforts to assure health care for all. Paradoxically Obamacare degrades the health system with erroneous formulas and algorithms to refabricate a medical industry that needed a tune up not an overhaul.  More than three years have passed since the inauguration of the Patient Protection and Affordability Care Act. From the public’s perspective none of the promises envisioned by its engineers have come into existence. Alternatively Obamacare introduces a system struggling for an identity. A system that is so profoundly flawed that logic dictates it was never intended to fulfill the health needs of our expanding population.  Instead the Affordable Care Act has purposely caused; insurance rates to rise exponentially, reduction in provider access and dismembers traditional insurance pathways. My own Maryland Blue Cross policy has seen its renewal rate increase by 82.5% a month for the same limited coverage. Sticker shock is being realized throughout the country. Millions are being forced off their plans because of excessive costs or the plans cease to exist. Enter the Exchanges as a means to move us closer to a one payer system.

October 1st 2013 was a momentous day for Obamacare. On this day the full incompetence of the Affordable Care Act’s legislative mandate made its debut. Federal and state insurance Exchanges came on line for the first time or did they?  From their incipience technical flaws surfaced which hindered most from applying. Billions were spent to provide a seamless experience applying for health insurance in cyberspace.  Those who tried found glitch after glitch as the system mined them for irrelevant information. Nearly six months have passed since phase one of ACA began with elements of the system still being hidden from the public. A few facts have surfaced. More than 5 million have registered on various online sites, yet the government has not been transparent who these applicants are. Media reps have pressed government officials for the answers, specifically requesting whether these people have been moved from one subsidized program to another, essentially inflating the number of applicants. Answers to this question are still pending. Ezekiel Emanuel, one of the architects of Obamacare, tragically admitted in order for this legislation to succeed millions of young people need to sign up. To this date that goal has not been achieved because there are built-in incentives for the youth of America not to apply. A small fine, with no teeth for collection, is awaiting those who go sans insurance. Obamacare is an obsolete mode of medical care delivery whose cost/benefits are low compared to the system it is attempting to replace.

Patient Protection and Affordability Care Act is essentially an accusatory instrument denigrating the traditional system of health care delivery. This legislation’s breath taking scope enumerates multiple flaws in the system which it intends to correct. Written end to end by lawyers and peppered with a few tidbits from the medical community, failure was the ultimate end point of its designers’ intentions to lead the nation into a one payer system. Obamacare victimizes individuals and businesses by forcibly ensnaring them into purchasing a product in markets created by government entities. Refusal to obtain insurance can bring the wrath of an IRS agent to your front door. Ultimately the judge and jury of this abomination are the end-users, the public, who will discover that promises made are not promises kept. America’s health system will survive despite Obamacare’s brief interlude on the scene. This medical nightmare is unraveling. Its demise is imminent. The only unknown is when.

Obamacare: A legacy unraveling

Obamacare: a legacy unraveling

While the majority of the population slept our misdirected government engineered major changes to their legacy legislative effort, Obamacare. Most startling of the alterations, many will be able to keep their traditional plans intact deep into 2017. Thirty other changes, through Executive edicts, have been implemented to make this egregious law more palatable to voters in 2014 and  subsequently for the presidential election in 2016. Driven by political considerations candidates running for Democrat seats in the House and Senate are running away from this catastrophe in evolution. Many ardent supporters of Obama are having second thoughts concerning his agenda, as the President tweaks the legal nightmare he has inflicted on the nation. Dozens of mandates have been modified, extended and or simply circumvented to keep the Affordable Care Act afloat. Insufficient numbers of paying subscribers have signed up in the Exchanges. Reportedly four million have enrolled. Those in the know question the mix of this group. White House officials are mum whether these new Exchange patrons have been moved off Medical Assistance to this newest of subsidized programs. This leaves a small window of possibility that a few paying customers joined. Many are asking the question whether the Affordable Care Act is on life support. Omens of failure are omnipresent. Insurance premium nightmares are being reported throughout the country, rising by as much as 100%.  Those who have not lost their jobs are seeing their hours cut by 25% or more. Clever means have been purported to deny patrons of this disaster the very elements advertised by the President and his minions. Obamacare was never about improving health care in America. Instead it was designed to usurp one-sixth of the economy and create a unitary payer system with the central core controlled by the Washington D.C.  bureaucracy. Confusion has been introduced into the health system, at every level, which completely defeats its endgame, better medical care for all.  Affordable care Act has been found to be not so affordable. From the perches of many Obamacare is unraveling and could sink under its own weight. In subsequent articles the dangers of Obamacare will be discussed.

Phase Two: the Obamacare nighmare continues

Phase Two: the Obamacare nightmare continues

Derelict in their duties implementing phase one of Obamacare, the Exchanges, phase two will be a nightmare for those trying to bring this legislation into reality.
Based on a series of fraudulent algorithms and guided by the legal elites in Washington the steps to failure are written into every page of this egregious Ponzi scheme. Three years was not enough time to establish the portals to access PPACA’s promises, then thirty years will not be sufficient to build the supporting structures and bureaucracy to manage its medical services. Complexity of America’s health care system is best represented by the number of facilities and people who support their function. With nearly six thousand hospitals, thousands of clinics and tens of thousands of physician offices to oversee the numbers only get worse when factoring in the people delivering services through these sites. Nine hundred thousand physicians, three million nurses, millions of auxillary personnel and an array of other health professionals combine to create an untenable situation for any government agency to manage. Yet this is the task Obamacare  has set-out for itself. To control costs one must pare down services, no doubt this was a primary consideration when this mess was originally envisioned. Under the traditional system MRIs and CT scans are available in hours to days, not anymore. Reflecting on the Canadian system, weeks to months will become the norm. Routine surgeries are not routine anymore. A vast array of bureaucrats will allow the privileged few into the operating suites. Bogus medical studies have already emerged, from quasi government panels, to dissuade physicians from performing certain lab tests, surgeries and procedures. Many have already been published, more are on the way. Mammograms were one of the first tests government officials attacked for overuse.  PSA testing, to determine prostate cancer, has been challenged by physicians outside this specialty working in Obama’s corner.  The parade of changes coming to traditional medicine will be alarming to the end-user, the patient, as Obamacare is fully implemented. Irony has a way of uncovering deception. Those who pushed this legislation through will be hammered by the same rules which will limit medical care for others. Phase 2 is the treacherous road ahead as the promise of more care becomes less in the face of skyrocketing costs and diminished access. The nightmare is just beginning, are you ready. Mark Davis, MD author of Obamacare: Dead on Arrival, A Prescription for Disaster, the one book that details how phase 2 to will affect you and ways to circumvent this tragedy. americassage@gmail.com, www.healthnetsreviewservices.com

Death by Obamacare

Death by Obamacare

Media has been focusing on the fundamentally flawed economic aspects of Obamacare. Few pundits have weighed in on the medical care and access that comes with this monstrous legislation.  Moving beyond the Exchanges the reality of Obamacare confronts you when trying to enter this new mode of health care delivery. Traditionally physicians worked alongside nursing personnel to investigate a patient’s symptoms and provide a viable treatment plan to effectuate a solution to the presenting problem. Obamacare seeks to undo this model by introducing secondary health providers, such as nurse practitioners and physician assistants, for first contact. Complicated presenting complaints would be evaluated by people who have less than one third the training of an M.D. or D.O. American medicine has already taken a hit when investigations revealed many foreign MDs have markedly less education and practical patient experience than their American counterparts prior to licensing. Doctor Ezekial Emanual, one of the architects of Obamacare recently stated in an interview with Andy Dean: for Obamacare to be a viable entity, secondary personnel on the frontlines, is necessary if this model of health delivery is to work. In his opinion physicians are no longer needed to be present on first contact. This Harvard theorist is essentially requiring Americans to be lab animals in the Obamacare maze. Dr. Emanual’s attempt to re-fabricate American medicine has no support in studies or actual experience, only an untried theorem. Medical care will see a decline in the quality and quantity of services as the new system is implemented. Physicians will be forced to follow treatment plans that are cooked up by government bureaucrats, many of whom are not health providers. These treatment plans will become the new standards of care. A physician who deviates from them could lose his/her license, be hanged in effigy and even find themselves in a cold jail cell, for which there is significant precedent.

Under this massive new health care scheme systems will be streamlined to maximize services. Accessibility to ambulance and emergency services will be reduced for two reasons: increased demand and fewer units available for treatment. In the new book, Obamacare: Dead on Arrival, A Prescription for Disaster, it documents how people die when immediate services are not available.  An infant drowns because the emergency management personnel had too many calls to answer on their shift. Chest pain leading to an acute heart attack was not treated on time because an emergency room was overwhelmed with patients seeking care. Surgeries on Demand will be a fine memory as the system introduces a new element into acute care, it is call waiting time. The gamut of surgical services may be available after weeks and or months of bureaucratic entanglement. Cutting edge drugs give way to a pharmacopeia of generics, many of which have been surpassed by newer medications. These drugs will not be available to you. Need an immediate CAT scan or MRI, with fewer units in existence, months may go by before your number is called. Obamacare guarantees three elements that will confound your utilization of its programs: higher costs, less access and poor service. Death panels are not written into the matrix of care. Instead, available medical services are slowed to a crawl, allowing those with curable and or manageable diseases to succumb at much higher rates than in the past. Welcome to Obamacare, worse than the present system it is replacing and deadly to your health. Obamacare: A Prescription for Disaster

Obamacare: A Prescription for disaster

October first 2013 will be remembered as the day Obamacare initiated a process to dismantle America’s health system. Earlier this year Americans were hammered with a dozen new taxes to bring this monster to fruition.  With the implementation of insurance exchanges medical services moved into the dark shadows of government bureaucracy. Failure is the most appropriate way to describe the initial two weeks of this electronic venture to cull unsuspecting people to purchase high priced insurance programs. Reportedly, one must provide information in minute detail, from your prior health history to one’s criminal past. Obamacare allows the U.S. government to mine each individual for data far beyond the needs required to create a health profile. How this information will be utilized is the subject of thousands of comments strewn across  social websites. Yet the media has only grazed this subject. Who needs a Fourth Amendment when we have an Administration that believes the Constitution stands in the away of governing.  Obamacare economics were intended to diminish costs to patients, instead insurance fees moved exponentially higher. Most important, every service embedded in this health legislation, will be apportioned using twisted algorithms to effectuate this oncoming disaster. Instant access to medical services will be a fine memory as this nation moves into its new mode of health care delivery.  A waiting game will emerge where weeks and months will go by when these services were once available in mere hours or days. With a tidal wave of new recipients flowing forth, the health system will need an array of new workers. Ezekial Emanuel MD, Ph.D, one of the architects of this mess, stated in a recent interview that secondary and tertiary health workers will be relied heavily upon to effectuate Obamacare. He believes doctors are no longer needed for minor infirmities such as colds and urinary tract infections. His PH.D is in political philosophy. This author is not sure which one. In essence Obamacare is a hodge-podge of regulatory structure cobbled together to mend a health system that needed a tune up not an overhaul. Its authors were mainly theorists and lawyers.  Failure is written all over this tragedy. Unfortunately President Obama wants to see his tragedy evolve and the resulting number of people who will be hurt under its auspices. As Obamacare implodes, it will defund itself because the economic formula on which it is based is fundamentally flawed. Theory is never as good as practicality. Obamacare is impractical and will hurt a nation already hurting. This nightmare will be over when rational minds prevail in the heart of the nation.  Mark Davis MD, author of the forthcoming book, Obamacare: Dead on Arrival, A Prescription for Disaster.  Available on Amazon, Kindle and soon other venues. platomd@gmail.com, www.healthnetsreviewservices.com.

Obamacare: Dead on Arrival, A Prescription for Disaster

Obamacare: Dead on Arrival, A Prescription for Disaster reveals the true intentions behind the ill-conceived health legislation bearing our President’s name. In the event this egregious law is fully implemented the level of detriment to our society will be enormous. This book describes, through many examples, how government managed health care leads only in one direction: decreased access and rationing. Insufficient emergency services, inability to access cutting edge drugs, surgical and diagnostic procedures wait times taking months instead of days and numerous other inhibitions brought into a system that does not need the hands of the government to function.  Obamacare was designed to fail. Its advertised goals hide its true nature. This book reveals information the media did not touch in their reviews.  Obama: Dead on Arrival, A Prescription for Disaster is available presently on Amazon and this website: https://www.createspace.com/3801630

America: closed for business

America: closed for business

America has traveled on many roads, yet the present shut down may be one of the most treacherous of them all. An ongoing game of chicken, between President Obama and Speaker John Boehner, could be the ultimate ride a country in recession does not need. The House of Representatives’ mandate is to originate funding measures that control every aspect of our economy. In 2010 a Democrat controlled Congress deceptively passed into law health legislation that is both deleterious to the American economy and destructive to the health care system. With a scant majority the Democrats succeeded in socializing medicine after six decades of attempts. President Obama’s relentless pursuit of this legislative tragedy came with a set of negative ramifications its authors could not foresee or did they? As several years went by elements of this monstrous law began to filtrate through the nation. Many of its downsides were hidden from the people it would affect most until after the 2012 election.  The President has given his supporters a vast array of waivers, from this detrimental law, yet most of the population must suffer under its tenets. During the most recent fiscal showdown between the House of Representatives and the White House its Republican majority was willing to fund the entire government except what has come to be known as Obamacare.  As monetary deadlines drew near neither side would flinch, leaving no choice but to shutter most bureaucratic functions. Over a week has passed and both sides are resolute in their positions.  During a news conference on October 8th, the President reiterated his position, no negotiation until full funding is restored to government services. In response Speaker Boehner clarified his position while holding his ground. To move the Republicans to the table Obama decided to inflict maximum pain on the nation. Every conceivable means of disrupting Americans’ lives has been brought to bear by a White House out of control. Parks, memorials, beaches, monuments, museums and a long list of government funded entities are now closed to the public. Obama’s minions ordered the World War Two memorial closed, yet it required no staff to keep it open. Elderly veterans from around the country come to view this remembrance of a war that changed the World. Within the last week a group of vets, from this era, came to pay their respects, many in wheel chairs. A barricade was there to greet them. Some respected members of Congress heard of their plight and came to escort them into the site. Obama’s vindictive nature was evident in the last week, his next set of moves may be more intense. Speaker Boehner must deal with Obama’s childlike behavior, but under no circumstance should he become weak in the knees and give an inch. Obamacare is a disaster waiting to happen. The catastrophic ramifications of this egregious legislation can only be projected. Let those who still have rational minds in Washington quickly negotiate to settle this stalemate.

Rubio's immigration legislation is Obamacare on steroids

Rubio’s immigration legislation is Obamacare on steroids

Americans should get ready for the newest affliction from Washington D.C. This time it is in the form of immigration legislation. As porous as our borders are presently, this monstrous legislation will enable a deluge of immigrants to flow into this country. Marco Rubio, a Republican Senator from the Great State of Florida, is spearheading the push to move this legislation forward. Commercials have already appeared noting this legislation as a cure-all to all the prior failed immigration laws and policies that preceded it. Three decades ago one of our best presidents, Ronald Reagan, made a concerted effort to stem the flow of illegals from south of the border, it failed. Since then a hodge-podge of remedies have been attempted to bring sanity to the immigration process. They also failed. Senator Rubio has been all over the media touting the virtues of his program that disadvantages American citizens over their illegal counterparts. A version of this pending legislation is revised weekly to keep current with its critics’ analysis. Volumetrically, this bill contains 867 pages with references to more waivers, exemptions and exceptions per page than its big brother, Obamacare. For complexity it contains a dazzling array of tenets that could baffle the most rational mind. With such a variety of paths to by-pass the restrictions in the core bill, one can only extrapolate that it was deviously prepared this way for a reason. According to reports, Rubio claims border control will improve, more sensible approaches to the illegals already on our soil will come into being and future arrivals will be given an easier path to citizenship. From closer inspection of this newest offering from Congress, the antithesis will occur. Illegals will be able to bring their families here with much less effort than before, potentially doubling and or tripling their present numbers. Management of the borders are taken out of the hands of those who perform these heroic actions, and given over to government lackeys to do as they choose. We are told by Rubio that; entitlements will not be available to illegals, that fines will be paid by those who have trespassed on our soil and this illicit populous will be able to stay in this nation with multiple conditions of their heads. Once you absorb this surrealistic presentation, a normal mind would come to the same conclusion as his or her  brethren, that Rubio is full of chicken feathers. This monster should not pass either house of Congress or anywhere near yours. Trillions is the price tag for a legislation that is doomed to fail like its predecessors. Conservative media voices are already lining up to support this egregious bill without understanding its true nature. In the event there is any sensibility left in Congress, this legislation, in its present form, should be defeated and buried in the landfill from which it originated. Rubio is being disingenuous with the American Public concerning the contents of his legislative initiative. As a result, his political career will suffer tremedously. His elementary approach to this complex issue displays he is not ready for primetime. Mark Davis, MD, President of Healthnets Review Services, www.healthnetsreviewservices.com. platomd@gmail.com. Obamacare: Dead on Arrival, A Prescription For Disaster

Obamacare: Dead on Arrival, A Prescription For Disaster

Obamacare is the most complex legislation ever to emanate from the Halls of Congress. Incomprehensible by mere mortals, no one with an IQ under 200 was supposed to understand its 2,700 pages of legislative rot. To explain the latter thousands of additional pages of regulatory nonsense will be required. Trillions not billions are the projected costs to bring this beast to fruition. More importantly will be the human costs to each of us as access to health services is restricted. Obamacare was a no go from its inception. This legislation, by its very nature, cannot be fully implemented. By the time it is castoff by future politicians, the damage caused by its far-reaching tentacles may not be repairable. Obamacare: Dead on Arrival, A Prescription For Disaster is a book written to project how this horrendous program could affect your health. Many examples are given displaying how lack of services dooms the most vulnerable amongst us to an early grave. Insufficient ambulance services, deficits in the most important pharmaceuticals, scarcities of medical specialists, long waits for surgical and radiologic services, extremely over-crowed emergency rooms and an array of other health care deficits will be the legacy of this ill-conceived legislation. Obamacare: Dead on Arrival, A Prescription For Disaster moves passed the financial costs and tells the story how medical care delivery will be constrained. Biologic value will be used to assess the level of care dealt out from an overreaching bureaucracy that has no heart and is after yours. This book is in final preparations and its release is set for May 2013. With a very unique book cover surrounding its contents, Obamacare: Dead on Arrival, A Prescription For Disaster will be easily recognizable on the net or at your local book vender. America's greatest Ponzi scheme: Obamacare

America’s greatest Ponzi scheme: Obamacare

Legitimatized by a signature from President Obama on March 23, 2010 the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), more commonly known Obamacare, is nothing more than a Ponzi scheme. Costs originally estimated at 900 billion dollars have ballooned to several trillion and growing steadily. In order to feed this monstrous creation, taxpayers are forced to pay more each year to sustain this leviathan. Eventually the costs become unsustainable and the program implodes, leading the country into economic oblivion. Signs that the government is struggling to implement Obamacare have already appeared. State insurance exchanges, to help small businesses, will not be initiated until 2015. Medicaid costs are seeing a meteoric rise in states that are expanding their pools of patients. Much of this funding will originate from cash derived from a series of new taxes cleverly being exacted on anyone and everyone who pays into the Federal Treasury. Do you remember Bernard Madoff, who was convicted of one of the largest Ponzi schemes in the history of Wall Street, Obamacare is exponentially worse. Congressional Budget Office (CBO), originally released projections noting Obamacare’s fiscal attributes were sustainable based on the elements of the legislation passed by Congress. Within months of PPACA becoming law, the CBO’s miscalculations became apparent. New estimations of the horrific mistake inflicted on the nation would be in the trillions. Did the CBO lie to make this leviathan more palatable to a nation? We may never know. Over a dozen new taxes have taken effect as of January 1, 2013. Every medical procedure, diagnostic methodology and therapeutic venture will cost more as these fees are dumped on top of already expensive health costs. Sticker shock is moving through the nation as patients find their pharmaceutical bills have doubled a few months into the new-year. One report notes that a popular anti-cholesterol drug, Crestor, jumped from $400 to $900 for a few month supply. Obamacare, as presently formatted, would be considered a criminal construct, if not sanctioned by this rogue government. Over the next 12 months there will be a deluge of legal cases filed against many aspects of PPACA. This Ponzi scheme is in for hard times. In the event it is not stopped by the courts, natural economic forces could erode its very base. Obamacare's first catastrophe: drug shortages

Obamacare’s first catastrophe: Drug shortages

Prescription drug shortages have become evident throughout the country, in every major pharmaceutical category, over the last two years. Concurrent with the initiation of Obamacare Hospitals and clinics have reported major scarcities in an array of drugs, which is presently reaching a critical point. People who are victims of cancer have found that needed chemotherapies have dwindled to a point where they are unavailable in many locales. One report noted that drugs for Hodgkin’s Lymphoma are becoming so scarce physicians are forced to withhold therapies from some. Emergency medical teams, in many jurisdictions, have resorted to using outdated drugs for lack of availability of a fresh supply.  Intensive care units are are unable to obtain there full complement of cardiology therapies from manufacturers. Pediatric vaccines are not finding their way into physicians’ offices to fulfill demand. Deficits in anesthetic supplies have delayed many surgeries. The dearth of injectable drugs is the most profound of the scarcities. Some pharmaceutical representatives state that manufacturing capacity has been reduced do to permanent facility closings and or to address quality issues in these production centers. Others note raw materials are not in abundant supply. In January 2013 many have gone to their local pharmacies to find price increases in their usual medications, some as high as 400 percent. Those in the know believe the heavy hand of government has triggered these shortages. FDA officials have been oppressive in their enforcement efforts against pharmaceutical manufacturers causing plants to bring production to a virtual standstill or even close. New financial burdens created by Obamacare and the slow thinkers in Washington have made the end-product, medications, much less profitable to produce. With less profit there will be reduced availability of a product or service, basic capitalism 101, something the creators of Obamacare forgot. Government officials claim they are trying to reduce the burden on manufacturers with easing up on some regulations, better communications with suppliers, quickening the pace of certain drug approvals and attempting to provide a cooperative effort between regulators and the private sector. In the event you live in the Obama fantasy world and accept the government’s explanation for the shortages so be it. Democrats have been pointing their fingers in a number of directions to blame anyone but themselves for these shortages. With the full implementation of Obamacare eleven months in the future, the problems embedded in this article will become more intense as the months move forward. Death is too high a price to pay for the President’s experiment in socialized medicine. Unfortunately, it is very likely that many will perish from the lack therapies available, the very promise made by the President would not happen under his ill-conceived health program. Romney: a conservative republican

                                          Romney: a conservative democrat

Mitt Romney is no stranger to politics or political causes. With a track record dating back over fifty years when his father was governor of Michigan to the present he has an encyclopedic knowledge of the political landscape that has affected America over that period of time. Romney is a stranger to the Republican narrative. Transitioning from an independent with democratic leanings twenty years ago to a full-fledged conservative in 2012 has many questioning his true stripes. Attacked by the liberal media for his acute business acumen, he distinguishes himself from his opponent by taking a middle of the road approach to tax policies. Unfortunately Romney echoes the “close the corporate loophole strategy” which is part of the democrat agenda to lay waste to the business community. When discussing foreign affairs he leaves the impression that his thoughts have not coalesced into a unitary position on this issue, few specifics with many generalizations. Obamacare comes to end, he claims, in the event the election goes his way. Yet many people have misgivings that he will forsake his promises of healthcare reform and leave much of Obamacare intact. This notion is based on the social program commonly called Romneycare that he left behind in the Bay State in 2006. The media has not vetted this health catastrophe in Massachusetts with sufficient detail to display it spawned Obamacare. Many tenets in Romneycare leave one wondering whether the liberal in Romney submerged his conservative side to bring about the chimera now plaguing his home state. During one Republican debate Romney deemphasized the value of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) stating there were more important issues on Earth to deal with. Yet when discussing how he would manage the military he answered that present World problems necessitate expansion of American Armed Forces. He never realized that NASA provides a strategic part of American defenses through various programs. His mentation concerning NASA coincides with the actions already taken by Obama to reduce the significance of this valuable asset. Romney’s stand on entitlements has not been clarified. During his tenure as Governor of the Bay State he markedly expanded entitlements allowing us a glimpse of the potential enactments he would bring to fruition if he attains the presidency. Many would question Romney’s conservative exterior, the evidence is clear that he does move to the right of President Obama. Does Romney engender Republican ideals, a clear case can be made that he doesn’t. Would this author vote for him? Yes, because of the detriment inflicted on America by Obama, Romney is America’s only choice. This November election is crucial because two competing ideologies are vying for your vote. Let us hope that we regain our constitutional democracy this election cycle, otherwise four years from now we could be speaking Arabic. Romneycare versus Obamacare: the real story

RomneyCare versus Obamacare: the real story

There is very good reason why the Romney has veered away from discussion of health policy when he was governor. Striking similarities embedded in these competing programs display they are close cousins and not distant relatives as we have been led to believe. During my preparation for the book Obamacare: Dead on Arrival facts were uncovered concerning Romneycare that have been deliberately overlooked by conservative media and will not be vetted by them before the election. Bureaucracy embedded in the Bay State’s vision of healthcare grows more extensive each year. Contrary to Romney Camp’s assertions that Romneycare  is not like Obamacare there are an extensive series of penalties and sanctions in the event you do not purchase health insurance for yourself or company as the case may be. In the first three years of Romneycare’s existence medical bankruptcies were not stemmed, they continued to rise. Health insurance premiums trended upwards not the reverse as intended. More perverse, individuals who maintained an income 300% above the federal poverty line were given assistance in purchasing insurance, meaning those with incomes of $90,000 received aid from the state. The under insured, those with minimal insurance coverage, expanded in the first three years of this program. Full coverage to those without plans has not been achieved, the very reason Romneycare was initiated. With cost overruns of hundreds of millions each year, a stressed out medical system that has yet to catch up with the requirements of this social experiment and a legislative initiative that forces people to purchase a product they don’t want Romney’s vision has not been the success stated by its enablers. Similar to Obamacare Massachusetts’ program has been a literal field day for lawyers. A deluge of legal challenges by individuals who refused to purchase health insurance required the elevation of a battalion of lawyers to administrative judges to try these cases, most were lost by the plaintiffs. Romney cannot run on Romneycare that is why he is running away from it. Obama will use his usual deprecating techniques to rough ride over his opponent. Romney must be ready to answer this challenge because it will surface during the debates. Voters on the edge could be thrown either way depending how Romney manages this subject. Mr. Romney expanded entitlements during his 4 year run as governor, yet he states he will rein in federal giveaways. Will Mr. Romney be another Trojan horse who sticks it to us or has he changed his menu of ideas, stay tuned. Mark Davis author of the forthcoming book, Obamacare: Dead on Arrival. platomd@gmail.com

Fox news: Obama's greatest supporters

Fox news: Obama’s greatest supporters

Strange becomes even stranger when I heard the Sean Hannity’s radio and cable shows this week. Sean’s attempt to deprecate Obama’s negative commercials against Romney may have a hidden paradoxical effect. Horrific unsupported prattle from the Obama camp, in the form of attack ads, were placed in selective media markets by Obama’s minions this week. Fox exponentially amplified them when they ran the same attack ads against the presumed Republican nominee in the guise of helping Romney. Fox’s antithetical maneuvers may have backfired. Instead of a few hundred thousand people seeing these false representations, now millions have had their minds imbued with bogus democratic rhetoric. Fox’s overt conservative bent may be a cover for their ulterior intentions to keep Obama in power. Once one gets past their disbelief the rationale may make much sense. The hierarchy at Fox must be aware that millions of undecided voters watch and listen to their so-called fair and balanced approach to expressing the news. By repetitively running Obama’s views many may believe the message that Romney is not what he portrays. Why give potential voters the opportunity to see and hear them? Fox makes its cash based on its audience size. The larger the audience the more ad revenue is generated. Obama’s divisive style and controversial approach to managing the presidency keeps the viewers and listeners tuned in by the millions. As a result the revenue pours in. Romney’s lackadaisical approach to Obama’s onslaught may not be the juice most voters want to imbibe and certainly not the bank Fox is seeking. Minimally on the offensive, Romney finds himself ducking democrats’ curve balls daily. Obama’s lies and distortions make good theater and Fox continually plays these rhetorical nightmares against Romney to an anxious and very concerned audience. Sean Hannity’s intelligence is without doubt, he must be aware of the consequences of his actions. Sean’s colleagues’ offerings are not as intense as his yet they too are giving Obama a perch to chirp from. Collectively Fox’s presentations through this month have given much more airtime to Obama’s deceitful message than Romney’s defensive dialogue. There are other holes in the Fox’s republican armor. Health and Human Services have been running dozens of ads on Fox concerning Obamacare’s offerings to the elderly, infirmed and chronically ill. These funded ads by the Obama Administration are nothing more than propaganda to ingratiate this monstrous legislation’s worth into the minds of the weak. How much has Fox profited by the Obama Administration, only its elites know. Paying their top commentators tens of millions requires cash and why not take it from their so-called political enemy, or is he. Mark Davis MD, author of Demons of Democracy, platomd@gmail.com

Obamacare: America's epitaph

Obamacare:  America’s epitaph

On June 28, 2012 five members of the Supreme Court accelerated the demise of this once great country. Embedded in their cleverly crafted memorial to America was a delusional interpretation of the Founders’ greatest document. Members of this derelict body receive their health coverage outside this egregious legislation. The Court’s vote would have been 9-0 against had they been forced to participate in this misguided plan. Left wing politicians and their media groupies were dancing in the streets when the final words were read, Obamacare’s implementation can now move forward unless impeded by the outcome of November’s election. Once the confetti stopped falling the true meaning of the Court’s Opinion’s impact was fully realized, less access, higher costs and death on a scale that few have touched on. Obamacare is constructed to withhold medical services especially from those who have lived more than six decades, chronically ill and special needs groups. Death comes in many forms, Obamacare accelerates the process. Curative services for those with oncological needs will turn into palliative offerings. Cardiac Surgeries will be meted out based on potential longevity not absolute need. Expensive drugs will be reserved for those who are not ready to meet their maker. Approvals of CAT scanners, MRI units, laboratories, new hospitals and or expansions will be denied or confounded at the administrative levels decreasing access further. As the crisis deepens, care will be apportioned based on the biological value of the individual, with those contributing least to society receiving the same. Romney’s Massachusetts’ social experiment in health services delivery reflects many of the challenges Obamacare will inflict on the people it is supposed to serve. Physician practices in many state locales are closed to new patients. Costs of services have gone north not south as promised. One hundred percent insurance coverage is a myth. Romney is on record against the present Federal health plan, but can we trust him to do the right thing and abandon this monstrosity. Romney, as the presumed nominee of the Republican Party, was nowhere to be found the day the Court’s unsettling Opinion was released. He should have come to the steps of the Supreme Court and shouted in the loudest voice the horrific nature of a decision that put the final nails into the coffin of an already dying nation. America is being managed into its grave. Few have challenged the contents of Obamacare. The media discusses the legal ramifications without noting the human side of this bureaucratic nightmare. People will die so others could live. To give these words credence it was recently announced by one of England’s top physicians that 130, 000 people admitted to National Health Service (NHS) Hospitals are fast tracked to death. A controversial protocol entitled the Liverpool Care Pathway is instituted to manage terminally ill patients. This protocol is being abused causing excessive deaths under the aegis of medical care management. Coming to your neighborhood hospital soon will be  Obama’s version of this of this plan. This protocol does not distinguish between liberal and conservative, they will both die knowing their deaths could have been prevented. Supreme Court decisions many times are controversial, yet few guarantee the death of a nation and its people. This Opinion did both. Vote right this November or don’t vote at all.
