Blighted Corrupt and a Regulatory Nightmare Maryland has seen better days

Maryland is a distressed state. Submerged in crime, drugs, onerous taxes and legislated efforts to control every action of its population, the Old Line State needs realignment. Baltimore, Maryland’s largest City, has the unique distinction of having the most murders in the country, based on population size. Opioids deaths reach into the thousands with the rate continuing to rise. Recently legislated efforts to put Marijuana in the hands of a large segment of the populace will only add to the addiction crisis. To complete the State’s nightmare the government, along with its Governor who ran on a Republican platform yet acts like a Democrat, are choking businesses with onerous taxes and socialistic style legislation. Maryland is a mess. Every segment of the State needs mending. The quick answer to Maryland’s problems is to blame the federal government and President Trump. Yet, the true nature of Maryland’s problems, are home grown. They are caused by feckless politicians who ignore their decompensating state to keep the flood of entitlements flowing.  Taxes, crime and bad legislation are on the increase as Maryland victimizes its businesses to keep the cash streaming into State coffers.

Nobility is not a trait of Maryland administrative entities. Honor left these cauldrons of deceit decades ago. Managed by political appointees merit has left the stage leaving behind an obnoxious stench of social conformity. Medical care is has suffered throughout the Maryland by an influx of lesser trained foreign physicians. Worse the Maryland Board of Physicians is managed similar to the Politburo of the old Soviet Union whose Executive head is nothing less than deranged in actions and words. Along with a corrupt Medical Board the State Government is pushing to keep Obamacare alive by levying high fees on insurance companies to assure a free ride for the entitlement crowd. Paradoxically those fees will be passed down to those of us who already pay extremely high insurance rates. For the illicit entries into this country Maryland has a gift for you. Once you acquire your illegal driver’s license the State intends to automatically register you to vote in order to keep the Democrats in power for eternity plus a week. Maryland’s dishonest government, from border to border, is a liberal’s dream and a nightmare for private businesses and those who work outside the government. In the event you are considering a move to this state think twice and see a Psychiatrist.  Maryland has nothing to offer except left wing courts, untenable crime, outrageous taxes and oppressive regulations that keep your pockets thin while fattening those of politicians and their political appointees. Remember this reporter told you so.

Ineptitude and incompetence defines Baltimore’s present government and its legion of public attorneys.

More interested in the limelight than what is right the City’s gang of reigning political clowns have suspended sanity to curry favor with its residents. Death has found Baltimore in numbers too great to ignore. Forty-five murders were reported in July. Unless revised the record books will reflect a very hot summer in the city that bleeds. City Hall has taken to the streets to blame its own police department for the tribulation now being observed. Reality speaks to a far different explanation of the chaotic events unfurling in this locale. Police are swamped with the massive level of crime within the confines of Baltimore’s 92 square miles. Permissive government policies and a lax prosecutorial system have contributed to the increasing level of daily violence. Crime has always been pervasive amongst Baltimore’s 622,000 estimated residents. Using the Freddie Grey incident as an excuse, which remains to be resolved, Baltimore’s Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake bashed her own police department as the cause of the uptick in violence. Similar to other cities managed by incompetents violent interludes on their streets stem from intrinsic problems amongst the population not in the guardians hired to keep law and order. Ethnic violence will not stop until a firm hand with a logical mind behind it returns to the seat of power held by its present ineffectual mayor. Overwhelmed by Baltimore’s problems Rawlings-Blake pretends to be in control when the actions on the streets speak otherwise. Forced to bring in the feds to control violence Mayor Blake is admitting the job she holds is beyond her abilities.

 

Local media lives in an alternate reality. Crime reports are diluted to give the perception all is not so bad in the streets and corridors of this decaying jurisdiction. I am here to report Baltimore is entrenched in ethnic violence with no resolve in sight. Political masochists will grind anyone into dust who dares to offer solutions to effectuate change in the city. Mayor Blake and her associates enjoy the status quo and will not confront the hard issues entrenched in this swamp of a town. Books will be written, years from now, how a government used its own residents so its leaders could move up the food chain. If you are a cheerleader for Baltimore I dare you to walk through its neighborhoods once the lights go out. I pray you find the morning light.

Murder, rape and other violent crimes have caused Baltimore to be listed as one of the most violent cities in the World. Recently Baltimore was found to be 36^th on the planet in terms of killings with 38 deaths per 100,000 residents. Few other cities in America have received this distinction. Ironically Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and her minions have done little to stem the tide of violence occurring daily within the confines of Baltimore. Sadly this Mayor is at war with her own police department. She requested the United States Attorney General’s Office to investigate her police department for brutality towards civilians. With respect for police ebbing to new lows these brave warriors must confront the predatory population daily. Body cameras would be an excellent addition to the armaments of the local police. Yet the Mayor will not allow a body camera bill, passed in the City Council, to become law.http://baltimore.cbslocal.com/2014/11/18/baltimore-body-cameras-passed-despite-mayors-veto-vow/  Mayor Rawlings-Blake worries the information collected by the cameras may be used improperly. She plans to form an investigatory group to study the issue. Behind her nonsensical rejection of body cameras lies the real reason for her vow to defeat this issue. Body cameras would enable the police to prove within a degree of certainty how a crime was committed. Additionally cameras would display who is brutalizing whom during an arrest. Mayor Rawlings-Blake’s disingenuous motivations on this issue will not make the public safer. Instead police will continue to confront brutality claims with little recourse to prove otherwise.

 

Baltimore residents and those who visit the city are in constant fear of victimization. Crime that used to be hidden in the shadows is now blatantly occurring in broad daylight. Violence has spread to every neighborhood in the city. Daily police reports indicate an array of crimes, some so hideous their description is beyond comprehension. Social decay, perpetuated by an entitlement mentality, is at the nidus of many negative issues in Baltimore. Attempts to rectify the crime problem over the last decade have been challenged on every level. When police made efforts to stem the blood flow the Department’s leaders would be either be fired or declared an enemies of the city. Schools cannot discipline children on their way to crime ridden lives because some lawyer somewhere will shout Civil Rights. Government officials curry favor with City’s residents for votes so status quo not change is inevitable from this arrangement. From the City Council to the present Governor’s Office it is to their advantage to prevent Baltimore from moving forward. The long term answer is leadership which is sorely lacking at the city and state levels. Without leadership Baltimore will continue to be immersed in the criminal quagmire for which it has become known.
